Colossians 1: 10
“…So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully
pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the
knowledge of God;”
*** Fist, we are to live a life worthy of the Lord.
This is terribly complicated; however, I think we can make
it complicated.
We seem to forget, that we are not being asked to do
something we have not been empowered to do.
We are expected to living in a manner in which is different.
The Lord expects us to reflect His character in all that we
do.
This is what Jesus tells us in John 5:30: “By myself I can
do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to
please myself but Him who sent me”.
You see, Jesus’ ambition, His goal… was to please the
Father.
Which means, that Jesus would never do anything that would
not please the Father.
He was perfectly fair, just, and reasonable.
And although it’s not always easy for us to ‘please God in
every way.’
The Lord expects us to reflect God’s character… in all that
we do!
Because of Jesus… because of the hope we have reserved in
heaven…
Because of the indwelling of the Spirit of God… we have been
given the ability to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord…
We have the opportunity of walking with our Heavenly Father.
We have the opportunity to join with Him… and know Him more
and more every day.
As we grow in our knowledge of God… living a life worthy of
him becomes much less complicated…
As we grow in our knowledge of God… pleasing him in every
way will become more and more important...
But it begins with being filled with the knowledge of His
will.
