New 'Adventure'

For the last month I have started on a new 'Adventure'. I'm calling it that because I don't know of  another word to use. But for about a year now I've been praying for the Lord to help me and to show me what His plan is for [this stage of] my life.
I realize that at my age one would think I should already know what that would be. However once my children were grown and my grandchildren no longer needed looked after, I've been a little lost. For awhile now, I lacked purpose. I don't know if you have ever felt that way; actually it's a frustratingly difficult place to be.
I honestly didn't think the Lord was answering my prayer (and secretly I feared that my purpose was past and completed). Looking back now (hind sight is always 20/20), I see that He was setting things up so I could see the direction He desired for me to go, and looking back is what has enabled me to see.
Like a sign post along a high way, the closer you get to your destination a sign tells you how many more miles and the exit number you need to take... the closer you get, you begin looking for your exit up ahead.
As I look back at the different junctures, I can now see some sign posts the Lord had left for me but I was too blind or self absorbed to be able to see them.
I will honestly tell you I still do not know [for certainty] where the Lord is taking me or what objective or destination that the Lord is guiding me to. Or even what the adventure may be! Except now I have my eyes wide open. I am anticipating Him showing me!
Sunday at church we sung 'Blessed Assurance'. The third verse says this:
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Now I am watching and I am waiting as I look above for His guidance that will direct me toward His purpose for my life. And I look forward to telling the story...

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
