GUILTY

As I was driving home the other day, I heard a song from the Newsboys called "Guilty".
It captivated me as I listened to the lyrics:

When did it become breaking a rule
To say Your name out loud in school
When Your name's the only one
That sets us free
When did it become incorrect
To speak the truth about life and death
When Your life gave us all eternity
Even if it gets me convicted
I'll be on my knees with my hands lifted
If serving You is against the law of man
If living out my faith in You is banned
Then I'll stand right before the jury
If sayin' I believe is out of line
If I'm judged because I'm gonna give my life
To show the world the love that fills me
Then I wanna be guilty
I'll rise up and honor You
I'll testify to the good You do
'Cause Your grace and mercy have
Overtaken me
Guilty by association
Guilty of being a voice proclaiming
Your ways Your truth Your life
I'll pay the price to be Your light
I want to be guilty
If you regard yourself a fundamental Bible believer, a born again believer in Jesus Christ, these lyrics resound with considerable exactitude.

I am amazed with how quick our (American) society has changed in less than ten years.
I honestly believe that within the next ten years the freedom to speak freely and to express ones biblical beliefs will have been made illegal.
I stand in amazement how quickly the moral fiber in the USA has deteriorated. But not only morality, but respect and good will seems to generally be missing in our society. I watch as hate is spewed out like sugar, and the masses swallow it whole.
Where truth is considered hate and decadence is celebrated, (anyone watch the half time show during the super bowl with Miley Cyrus?).

To some human life is considered no more valuable than a gorillas. Did you read or hear the outcry over the death of Harambe, the Western Lowland Gorilla who was shot on May 28th at the Cincinnati Zoo. A host of critics were outraged by the killing and what they considered the mother’s negligence. And when the mother thanked God and those who rescued her child, one reporter wrote, "She apparently believed that God had intervened, even at the price of the Gorilla’s life, She did not explain why God did not elect to protect her son by more peaceful means, such as, by preventing him from climbing into the enclosure." (Bron Taylor, The Huffington Post. Author, ‘Dark Green Religion: Nature Spirituality and the Planetary Future’)

I do not believe things will get better. I believe what the Bible teaches, that things will get worse and worse. Where believers will have to take a stand or they will have to step back. The choice is an individual one... as for myself I pray that the Lord Jesus Christ will enable me by His power to stand regardless of the cost!
