Update on Mindy Lou & A Really Quick Simple Meal 😋 Eyes of the Heart

Ephesians 1 18

Ephesians 1:18, I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

...THAT THE EYES OF YOUR HEART MAY BE ENLIGHTENED...

"The eyes of the heart" this is an odd expression, isn't it?

Our eyes allow us to see things… and we can also [in a sense] see things with our mind… such as, when an item is described to us, we can visualize it in our mind. But also, when we listen to something, in any area, “the eyes of our mind” are able to grasp ideas.

But here we are told that the heart has eyes as well. And if we think about this for a moment, the heart does need to see things, because the heart needs to grasp truth and understand it.  The heart in Scripture is the seat of our emotions.

Do you remember in Luke 24—when the risen Lord appears to the two disciples as they walked to Emmaus? The Lord joins them, but they don't know who He is. He walks along with them and unfolds to them all the Scriptures concerning the promised Messiah. Then afterward, they said to one another, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?" (v. 32)

That "burning of the heart" represents the eyes of the heart being opened. It’s when the heart comes alive and is deeply moved.

It’s this burning of the heart that the writer of Ephesians desires for these Christians. When the heart begins to burn with truth, when it takes root and one simply must respond to it and you know with certainty that God is real and He is alive!

It is when you get on your knees and pray, believing for a miracle. And even when nothing has outwardly changed, your circumstances are the same, your loved ones still need saved. But you believe that God is able… but more than able - He is willing!

It’s when you are resolved to keep praying day after day, month after month, year after year… in anticipation believing that God is working everything out according to His Will and purpose.

It’s not asking for the material or things that parish… but asking for the things that are eternal… This is the testimony to the power of prayer to open eyes!

You see, it isn't enough simply to teach truth. Because you will never affect the whole person until the eyes of their heart are enlightened.

When truth is moved from the head down to the heart, and it has gripped the emotions. Then the will [of the person] is properly motivated. Then the person begins to grow tremendously.

My prayer for each of us this week is for the Father to open the eyes of our heart. But for that to happen there must be the bending of the knee… the pleading of the Spirit in prayer, so that truth becomes vital and compelling and we felt the Power of His Presence!

Life Happens let’s enjoy it.

Faithful prayer shortens one of the longest distances known by humanity… which is the distance between our head and our heart.
