A Delivery ⚓ Our Anchor

Hebrews 6:19
19 “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil,”

Christ and His coming Kingdom is the hope set before us.
God is the anchor of our heart and soul.
And He is the source of comfort and strength for those of us who are weary, or hurting.

Satan seeks to shipwreck the soul of the one who is not securely anchored in Christ so we must lay hold on that hope, for our hope is secure in Him.

And our hope in Christ is securely anchored to the Word of God, which contains His will and His purposes so that we are not tossed about by every wind of uncertainty nor weakened by the stormy trials of life.
We have a blessed hope that is laid up for us in heaven.
Our Anchor is indeed sure and steadfast.
And although the storms of life may be battering at our door.
And tides of pain and disappointments may cause us confusion.
And we may at times wonder if Christ is our anchor then why I’m I sinking?

For this we must look deeper. He not only died to save us and rose again to give us newness of life. But our lives are hid with Christ in God. He is that mighty Anchor!
For Christ has ‘entered into the veil…’ He has taken up His place, for you and for me.
His very intercession on our behalf is offered to God to keep us His prayers for you and I are to keep us from being overwhelmed by this life.

The question we need to ask ourselves is: “Our hope in Him or have we fastened our anchor to the things of this life?”

Because, honestly the only way to weather the storms of this life is by resting and remaining in Christ… by laying hold of the hope set before us.
We must anchor our hope on Christ and not allow the pain and problems and disappointments of this life to overwhelm us. For this life is not what we are to look to.
Our hope is not in “Our best life now” as some preachers claim.
Philippians 3:20-21 tells us: “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body,”

If someone were to ask you if your soul has an anchor you might eagerly answer, “Yes, of course, Jesus is.”
But if we are honest, there could be many answers to this question.
Some people feel secure in the strength of their finances.
Others may get strength from a good job.
Or maybe for some their strength is in an individual or in their family.
Whatever the case, though all of those things can be good in their own right, they are all susceptible to the storms of life.

We need somebody with a soul that transcends the plight of human existence, yet who understands that difficulty and can rescue us from it.
That’s why Jesus is the only reliable Anchor for our soul.

This doesn’t mean we won’t get discouraged. The thing about an anchor is that it does its best work when it isn’t seen.
It plunges through the depths, hits the ocean floor, and fastens itself there. Meanwhile, back on the surface, you may still be confronting those dangerous elements and thinking, “This is rough! And I cannot see my anchor!”

So be comforted in the fact that Jesus, your Anchor is set.
His work is finished. He loves you and He is present and near.
And He will care for you in this life and the one to come.
Our anchor is secure for all who are In-Christ.
