Fun Finds 🎄That Heavenly City

Hebrews 11: 0 and 10
By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.

Focusing on Heaven is the best way to endure difficulties on earth.
But not just difficulties, but our wants, our desire for more, more stuff, more things, bigger things, better things, our flesh always wants more.
It’s grows unsatisfied with what it has and continuously seeks more.
Even once full and satisfied within a little time, the flesh starts craving for more.

Today's scripture is telling us that our fore fathers were not looking to an earthly city, or an earthly home.
But the heavenly City.
Perhaps because they dwelt in tents which don’t have a permanent foundation it was easier for them to keep their focus on that heavenly City.
Unlike now, where we are continually bombarded when advertisements that tell us to buy this, it will be more beneficial than what you have and will make your life so much better.

Deep within each of us seems to be a longing, a longing for more, a longing that can never be satisfied with any earthly goods.

The tent symbolizes Abraham's dependence on God.
And verse 9 in our scripture in Hebrews, said, "by faith he [Abraham] went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land,  For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God."

Every child of God is a pilgrim in this world and we are to have our eyes fixed on our home in heaven.

You see, Abraham's faith was acquired through his decision to trust God.

I’m sure there was some was fear and trepidation in the heart of Abraham as he faced the unknown. Yet, his decision to obey God and face the unknown was a mark of his faithfulness.

We can’t see the unseen we can only see the immediate.
We reach out for things that we can tangibly touch and put our hands on.
However, we must look beyond ourselves, and look at what can be.

The courage to look and move into the unknown comes from trusting God.
And trusting God is the beginning of faith.
But merely trusting does not develop faith.
Faith involves making a decision to follow God as we hear what He says.

In "The Lord's Prayer," we say, "Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come" (Matt. 6:9,10).
This has to do with our relationship to, and worship of, God.

We want His name to be holy, which means that we are not seeking a holy place for ourselves. We want His kingdom to come.
We look to that heavenly city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
We are not trying to build a little kingdom for ourselves.
We pray "Thy will be done" (v. 10) showing that we want God's will, not ours, to be done.
This is worship. This is a vital relationship with God.

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not" (Jer. 33:3).
