A change of plans and bad weather 🌨 Six declarations

Psalm 19:7-11
The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

In our scripture verses for today we find six attributes or declarations that tell us what the Bible is and does.

The first is in verse 7. "The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul."
The word “law” is speaking about our conduct and how we are to live our lives.
By instructing us and pointing us in the direction of what is right and wrong.
Now the word “perfect” can mean flawless but, here the word perfect is used with the sense of completeness. It has everything needed to address our needs and circumstances and is greater than any other claims that would lead us in another direction.

The second is the second part of v. 7 says, "the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple".
The Word of God is a record of God's own witness to who He is and what He will provide for us in Christ Jesus.  This is telling us that it’s true in principle and verifiable in life's situations.  The Bible is able to take the naïve and gullible person and makes him wise.
When we’re immersed in the Word, the Lord equips us to choose wisely.

Third, v. 8, "the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart".
We can always rely on the scriptures to provide us with truth and accuracy.
If our heart is fixed on the teachings of the Lord, we’ll never be at the whim of other people’s opinions or advice. In God's laws we find reason for joy and reason for rejoicing.

Fourth (the 2nd half of v. 8b), "the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes".
God's commandments shine and shimmer. They are brilliant and bright and dispel the darkness of human ignorance and senseless advice.

Fifth, (v. 9) "the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever".
The fear of the Lord that God’s Word produces in us is clean, by its impact on our hearts. Its power and purpose will never end and we can always count on God's Word to do its work.

Sixth (the 2nd part of v. 9) says, "the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether".
What God says in his word is never inaccurate or misguided. His Word is the only gauge for reality. We never need to live in doubt concerning what is righteous. The guesswork is gone. The certainty of God's Word is our foundation.

And as verses 10-11 declare, The Word of God is to be desired "more than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward".

The Word of God brings us satisfaction and joy and delight.
And restores our soul,  gives us wisdom for our walk,  joy for our heart,  enlightenment for our eyes,  truth we can count on,  and the provision of righteousness,
Wow!
