Romans 3: 19 - 20
19 Now we know that whatever the law says it
speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and
the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For by works
of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since
through the law comes knowledge of sin.
These verses are explaining that the very purpose of the
law, is not to reconcile the believer to God… but it’s to show a person where their
life has fallen short…
It is like a magnifying mirror… it will not correct your
flaws, but it will let you see them.
The Law is showing us how a perfect person would act and
behave…
it shows us that we are not perfect…
The purpose of the law is to demonstrate that we can’t keep
it…
The Law was not given as a way to God… and Jesus was Plan B
because God got tired of the lack of obedience.
And God certainly did not default back to the Law after
Christ came as our Savior… so we would keep all the necessary boundaries
relating to Him.
Because the Law is powerless to bring change… and that was
never its purpose.
Paul makes the statement: “through the law comes the
knowledge of sin.”
In other words, we become aware of sin…
The Law makes us accountable to God.
The Law makes us conscious that sin in us and helps us to
realize our need for a Savior.
The Law makes us mindful of sin, but the Law is powerless to
do anything about it.
Rather, what he says here is that, when we learn right from
wrong, we eventually realize that our behavior is not always right, no matter
how hard we try. We need something more.
And this is good news for us because this awareness brings
us toward repentance and faith.
It breaks the deceptive thinking that we can be good enough by
following rules and regulations.
The law points to our need of a savior!
This is the purpose of the Law!
God Bless and enjoy the video...
