1 Corinthians 13: 2
And if I have prophetic
powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all
faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
Do you realize that a “Loveless faith is useless faith”?
Have you noticed that 1 Corinthians 13 is sandwiched
between two chapters that deal with spiritual gifts?
The Corinthians were focused on the gifts instead placing
their focus on loving people… the gifts were to benefit people… not to bring
attention to themselves and their own [supposed] self-importance.
The type of love Paul is talking about isn’t a natural human
love… but comes from God — a part of His very nature.
It’s an unselfish, sacrificial love that acts to benefit
others…
Since the Lord wants to transform our character into the
image of His Son…
Whenever we display selfless love for one another, that’s
when we are the most like Christ.
Remember, without love it doesn't matter what gifts you
have, how eloquent your speech is, what you know, or what you believe.
Only love can validate your service to Christ.
