“In the morning, Oh Lord, you hear my
voice. In the morning, I lay my requests
before you and I wait in expectation.” Psalm 5:3
STARTING THE DAY RIGHT
Prayer must be a vital
part of our life. And most Christians
would say – they agree with that!
However, if someone looked
at your life, at your priorities and how you spend your time – would that
statement still appear true?
And honestly, the topic of
prayer can be very convicting.
So, how would you assess
the time you spend in prayer each day?
Is prayer a key part of
your life? Is it a priority?
Think about this: When you
get up in the morning, is your first thought about God or checking your phone?
The Psalmist wrote about
starting each day with God. In fact, the palmist declared that in the morning
he lays his requests before God.
Pray is the way to
communicate with the One who created us.
The importance of daily
communication through prayer cannot be over stressed.
It is so important that it
is mentioned over 250 times in Scripture.
So why is daily prayer so
important?
First, daily prayer gives
us an opportunity to share all aspects of our lives with God.
Second, daily prayer gives
us the chance to express our gratitude for the things He provides.
Third, daily
prayer provides the platform for confessing our sin and asking for help in
overcoming that sin.
Fourth, daily prayer is an
act of worship and obedience.
And finally- fifth, daily
prayer is a way to acknowledge who is really in control of our lives.
In today’s hectic and busy
world, it’s so easy to rush into our day without giving much thought to God or
to prayer.
But when we start the day
with God, that helps to get our day started right.
Prayer recalibrates our
hearts for life’s ups and downs.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer (Who
was a German pastor, theologian, spy, and anti-Nazi dissident),
put it this way: “The
prayer of the morning will determine the day.”
So, let’s – each of us,
you and me – reevaluate our own daily prayer time…
Perhaps we need to start
putting God into our morning routine every day.
AND WITH THAT I WANT TO
REMIND YOU…
Take a moment to start
your day right, by starting it with God.
I guarantee that He has
something more important to say than your phone, social media, email, or even that important YouTube.
