Let me tell you about my morning…
Except for the fact that I
had a 9 am doctor’s appointment, everything went pretty much as any other
morning…
Until I mentioned to my husband that our one dog Missy May didn’t seem
to want to eat her breakfast…
And in typical fashion he
called for Missy May… but she didn’t come.
Which is unusual because every
morning it is their routine that he calls for her and they sit together in
front of the window for a few minutes…
Then I saw her... and noticed
that her nose was extremely swollen. Three to four times its normal size.
I
immediately knew she got into something! And chaos ensued…
With me trying to call the
vet… my husband trying to find his keys… (he never loses his keys)!
And us trying to get a now
frightened dog out from behind the sofa…
Yeah, she probably thought her people
parents were going crazy!
All the while Mindy Lou
our other dog was continually barking…
You know…
In the grand scheme of
things, a stressful morning doesn’t impact life or eternity all that much…
And our situation, looking
back was rather comical.
But in those longer
seasons stress, whether it’s joblessness, sickness, financial stress, or other
ongoing life events…
The stress and frustration
can seem overwhelming. So after I got home I asked the Lord for some guidance
on where I went wrong and I found these four points on Dave Willis’s blog and
thought I’d share them for when you may be experiencing the challenges of life…
1. Remember that your
Character should always be stronger than your Circumstances.
We
can’t always control what happens to us, but we can always control how we
choose to respond. Choose to keep a positive attitude and thankful heart
regardless of what you’re going through.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 - “Rejoice always, pray
continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you
in Christ Jesus.”
2. Remember that your
Struggles always lead to Strength.
Every
difficulty in our life, whether big or small, is something God will use to
produce more strength, faith and perseverance in you if you let Him! The Lord
will use our pain for His purpose. purpose.
Romans 8:28 - “And we know that in all
things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose.”
God’s
plans are almost always different from our plans, but His plans are always
perfect! We need to have patience to wait on His timing instead of trying to
force our own plans.
Jeremiah 29:11 - “For I know the plans I
have for you declares the Lord; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future.”
4. Remember that God will
never leave your side.
We
may feel like we’re going through this struggle all alone, but from the moment
we asked Jesus to bring us into His family, He has never left our side!
Deuteronomy 31:6 - “Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with
you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
AND WITH THAT I WANT TO REMIND YOU... LIFE HAPPENS LET'S ENJOY IT!
I failed on many points listed here. But God uses the circumstances of life to teach us and help us.
