The Best Gift Of All

There's something magical about Christmas time. As I sit here on this quiet Saturday morning drinking a cup of coffee, my husband is in his study working on his message for church in the morning. I have Christmas music on. My mind reflects on all that's right in my little world...

Last night our little town had their tree lighting ceremony and although it was cold with freezing rain,
it was wonderful to see the community reaching out to make this Christmas season special. It started with a blessing and a prayer. Then the count down to light the tree that stood in the middle of the gazebo that sits in the towns square. A pastor of a local church started to play the guitar welcoming all to sing. The children held tightly to their song sheets as they begun to sing, "Go Tell it on the Mountain" which was the song they had practiced for the ceremony. Afterward everyone was invited to one of the churches across from the park for refreshments of hot cocoa and cookies.
The ceremony in the park ended early due to the weather, but they also had an area Artists Show & Sale with a meet and greet of the artisans. There are many more events planned this weekend...

Lighting of luminaries, chalk drawing, holiday tours of the Historic areas of the town, and much more. With Santa Claus riding on a fire truck and a time for the children to tell him what they'd like for Christmas...

During this Christmas season it's my prayer that we will all reflect on what's right in the world... for whatever is happening, for the good, or the bad... Because of a baby, that was born some 2000 years ago, we have been given the gift of everlasting life...  and Jesus Christ is Lord... the best Gift of all!
