THANKSGIVING...

What am I thankful for? To be honest these last few weeks have been more trying than usual. But I have much to be thankful for. I could list them but it would be somewhat boring. You probably have a very similar list. Home, husband, family, job…
So I’ll skip the inventory of blessings and move on to what Thanksgiving always meant to me personally…

A day that was set aside to celebrate how blessed we are by our heavenly Father; because even when there is “want” in our lives, there is also “abundance” in our lives.

Let me explain:  I can want many things, important things even, but with all the things that I want or even need, I can still see the abundance of many more things; like love.  How can we ever measure love? Love is so wonderful, because it is always different depending on the person or thing involved.  I have friends; it’s fun to see them and laugh with them, and to share ideas and hopes with them.  Then I have my church family; they support me spiritually, they pray and encourage me.  I have family, my sisters, children, and grandchildren; they give me joy and comfort, as well as friendship. They support me emotionally and sacrificially and provide so much more than I could begin to list! My husband, who demonstrates every day his sacrificial love for me, and comforts me, prays for me, and is my best friend.   I must also include my dogs; their silly antics and their endless doggy kisses, always willing to keep me company.

This is why I can say that even when there is “want” in our life; there is much more “abundance” in our life. We can choose to list the tangible and material things as blessings, or we can list things that truly enrich our life… these are usually more subtle and inconspicuous.  But it is also the reason we have hope in our life.  The people… their love… the Lord… His love… and yes, even the dogs… and their love… all add up to an abundance of blessings in my life!

I have much to be thankful for… and so do you… God’s Blessings to all!

My grandson is thankful for pumpkin pie!
