DO ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD?
Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Perhaps more than any other promise in the Bible this verse has helped people trust God through experiences that seemed utterly pointless and painful and evil. People have held fast to the “all things” and believed the word of God — that when something terrible, or some seemingly pointless thing… will… turn out for our good.
Years ago, in Sunday school children were taught to say:“When things don’t go the way they should, God will make them turn for good.”
Because for the Christian… they believe that, sooner or later, the sorrows and pains and disappointments and losses in life will work together for good.
However, I want to point out that there is an often-overlooked condition to this familiar verse, which is: we have to love God through Jesus Christ and live according to His teaching in Scripture for this verse to be true. To believe anything or to live any way we want nullifies its authenticity.
Also, I want you to realize that when the Bible says, “all things work together for good,” it does not mean, they work that way on their own, or by some power of fate. It means that God makes all things work together for good.
God is the one working, and what He is bringing about is good, and what he is bringing good out of is “all things.”
Paul is not saying all things are good. He is saying all things are turned by God for good.
You see, when we love God and are living for Him, then God can bring good out of any tragedy or any suffering. It might not always look like what we expect … or want… but God is good. His plans are good. He can bring good out of our setback. For with every challenge, setback, or pain, we have a choice. We can either grow bitter or trust God to bring good out of grief and difficulty.
Life Happens… If you are walking through a difficult season right now, I pray that you will choose to trust God, even when life doesn’t make sense! Ask God to help you find the good that God can bring out of even a your most challenging season.
God bless and if you'd like to watch my video, I make my own granola and it turned out wonderful! I don 't know why I never made this before, it's easy and inexpensive to make. And I share this devotion at the end of the video.
