Psalm 29:1-4
Ascribe to the Lord, O
heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 2 Ascribe
to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of
holiness. 3 The
voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord, over
many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of
the Lord is full of majesty.
The ultimate priority of
man is to worship our Creator.
God created mankind to
worship Him. Worship is not an option; it is a command.
And our source of life and
blessing comes from God.
We owe our very life to
Him. It is a contradiction for a believer not to worship the LORD.
We are to acknowledge His
majesty, His power, His authority, His splendor, and His greatness.
We are to do this both
privately and with others believers.
We are to Worship our God
no matter what is going on in our lives, for He is truly Worthy. We must never
neglect to worship our source of life.
In the Gospel of Matthew
chapter 13, verses 3 – 9 Jesus tells the parable of “The sower,” where it
speaks of the seed falling on good ground and hard and stony ground… this parable
tells us about the different conditions of the heart.
And one of the most
powerful ways to till the soil of the heart is through worship.
As we open our hearts and
God pours His love out on us…
When we worship… our
hearts naturally become soft and receptive to God’s love.
One way we worship is
through music. You see, God created music with a natural ability to affect us.
Music is able to fill us
with peace, and joy.
Music can cause tears to flow
from our eyes.
And it’s through music, that
the Holy Spirit is also able to till the soil of our hearts and to fill us with
the seeds of God’s presence and His perfect character.
The Bible continually
tells us to worship through song.
And in Colossians 3:16, we
are told, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing
one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with
thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Scripture stresses the importance
of worship because the Lord longs for us to live and respond to His presence
and His plans…
When we worship our hearts
flow towards eternity…
To the One we will spend
eternity with!
I’ve often wondered why
people claim that faith must be private.
Something so wonderful, so
powerful, so meaningful as faith in the creator of the universe is something
that begs to be made known.
It is something that should yearn to get out
and let others know.
All creation is aware of
this reality.
Jesus said that if our
voices ceased to praise God then the very rocks would cry out to the praise and
the glory of God.
If we believe in a God who
sits enthroned as King forever…
If we have faith in a Lord
whose very voice gives birth to the deer and strips the trees bare.
Then we must cry Holy, and
Declare His glory!
We not must keep it not to
ourselves… in the hidden recesses of our heart…
but declare it, sing it, and
shout it out loud, for the King of Glory sits on high!
Just a thought… we are
talking of the God of creation.
Yet how quickly we reduce
Him in our hearts to a person more like us.
We are more comfortable
with a God who is always there to help and guide us rather than a God of
judgment, strength, and power over all the earth.
Who deserves to be
Worshiped!
