Sunshine and some planting ☀️"In the Beginning" Part VI

Genesis 1: 9-13
And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, “Let the earth put forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, upon the earth.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day.

Our study in the first chapter of Genesis, now takes us to day three, of creation.
Notice that these verses divide into two areas.
First, land emerges from the oceans; and second, the first appearance of life on the earth IS in the form of plant life…

It’s intriguing how we can go through this chapter and see evidence of factual discoveries of science…

For instance, we are told that God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear."
If you put yourself in the place of a human observer in the day when Moses was given this revelation, you’d realize that it would be difficult for someone to observe this to be true…
Because even if they had the occasion to see the ocean, it still would have been almost impossible for him to have known this… Yet anyone with a modern globe, or a knowledge of the earth, knows this to be a fact.

Second, we are told that the continents were once submerged beneath the oceans. The words of the 104th Psalm verses 6-8, remarkably describe this:
You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. The mountains rose; the valleys sank down to the place which You established for them.

In this passage, we have an extremely accurate scientific statement.
Science has discovered that the early earth was covered in a global ocean.
And there is considerable scientific evidence that the earth's continents were once joined together into one unbroken unit.
Always remember that the Bible is not a science book; however, we can see evidences of science in the Bible…

Remember that each of these days of creation consists of an evening and a morning; During this period, we have the rising of the continents, the weathering of the rocks and the soil IS formed to make preparation for the plant life…
Here the Bible divides the plant world into three parts…
First, there was, vegetation (this would be plants that do not propagate themselves by the use of seeds, like moss & lichens).
Then, the seed-bearing plants, such as, grasses and grains,
Followed by fruit trees… each, according to their own kind…
which means God allows variation within a kind, but something of one kind will never develop into something of another kind.

And God saw that it was good…
And we must keep in mind that all this on the physical level is a reflection of a spiritual and moral reality.
If we do not study Genesis with that in mind, we will miss the great purpose of this book.
This first chapter is designed to introduce and lead us into the great themes that run throughout the rest of Scripture. And all of this is designed, to teach us something…

Just a thought: God called forth fruit upon the earth on third day… and it was on the third day that our Lord was resurrected by the power of God and brought forth new life…
And it's only through the life of Jesus Christ living in us are we able to be fruitful.
