Strawberry Jam - no sugar, no pectin 🍓The Hidden Treasure

Matthew 13:44
44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.”

The exciting thing about Scripture is that in it, we are always dealing with fact, not some illusion. You see, these parables can give us a glimpse behind the scenes of history [so to speak] into forces which are at work today but are unseen…

And in today’s parable of The Hidden Treasure, we will learn about God forsaking everything to find us…
Now, take a moment honestly look at your own heart…
What is the most important thing in your life… is it your kids? Your home? Your family? Your job? What would you give up everything else for?

Would you believe that our heavenly Father’s answer... is you?
That the Creator of the universe loves you the most?
Would you believe He would give up everything to have a relationship with you?

Let that sink in for a moment…
Out of everything that God created or could have created. His greatest desire is to have a relationship with you.
And he so longed for you, and for me to fully know Him, that is why Jesus came to die in order to restore and make it possible for us to have a relationship with Him.
Jesus stands at the door of our heart and knocks, desiring for us to simply open our hearts to Him.

When we truly grasp the depth of God’s desire for us, our only response can be to give up everything for Him.
By the greatest act of love, He made the way for us to have relationship with our Heavenly Father.
And He waits, for us to respond, to live our lives with Him as our highest priority. For us to live our lives is in total commitment to Him.

We read in Matthew 13:45-46 of the parable of The Great Pearl which says: Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, 46 who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.”
You see, The kingdom of God is the greatest treasure, the pearl of greatest value.
Relationship with him is worth our entire lives.
Pursuing him with all our heart is the absolute greatest ambition we could have. Paul expresses this pursuit in Philippians 3:8 when he said, “Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.”

So back to my question… What do you value above all else?
Now I want to point out something vital.
And that is… our pursuit of God will only ever match our revelation of His goodness.
Because if He isn’t truly the greatest desire of our heart, it’s because we don’t fully know how good He truly is.
Now I want to repeat that… our pursuit of God will only ever match our revelation of His goodness.
Luke 12:31 promises us, “Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.”

If we had the full revelation of His love for you and for me, then living totally for Him would be the only choice.
That’s how great it’s worth knowing Jesus… … that as we see Him, we naturally will give up everything to know Him more.
The only way we will grow in our pursuit of God is by acknowledging the position (the attitude) of our own heart.
How strong do we really desire a deeper relationship with The Lord? And how much are we really willing to give up to know Him more?

One way to know is by asking ourselves: “What do we seek for fulfillment, in during our free time?”
