Homemade Velveeta cheese🧀The feet of His saints

1 Samuel 2:9
“He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.”

First, I want to give you the biblical description of the term “saints”
It literally signifies the Holy Ones.
Scripturally speaking, the “saints” are the body of Christ, Christians, the church.
All Christians are saints and at the same time we are also called to be saints.
You see, we are saints by virtue of our connection with Jesus Christ.
Yet, at the same time, we are called to be saints, we are to increasingly allow our daily life to more closely match our position in Christ.

To explain today’s scripture verse I will be reading from a little book called:
“Cheque book of the bank of faith” Daily readings by CH Spurgeon.
On the part of our scripture verse that reads: "He will keep the feet of his saints."

The way is slippery and our feet are feeble, but the Lord will keep our feet. If we give ourselves up by obedient faith to be His holy ones, He will Himself be our guardian. Not only will He charge His angels to keep us, but He Himself will preserve our goings.

He will keep our feet from falling so that we do not defile our garments, wound our souls, and cause the enemy to blaspheme.

He will keep our feet from wandering so that we do not go into paths of error, or ways of folly, or courses of the world's custom.

He will keep our feet from swelling through weariness, or blistering because of the roughness and length of the way.

He will keep our feet from wounding: our shoes shall be iron and brass so that even though we tread on the edge of the sword, or on deadly serpents, we shall not bleed or be poisoned.

He will also pluck our feet out of the net. We shall not be entangled by the deceit of our malicious and crafty foes.

With such a promise as this, let us run without weariness and walk without fear. He who keeps our feet will do it effectually.

To fully understand the context of today’s scripture; it’s helpful to back up to the last part of the previous verse which says…
“For the foundations of the earth are the LORD’s; upon them he has set the world. (verse 8b)
He will guard the feet of his saints, but the wicked will be silenced in darkness.” (1 Samuel 2: 8b - 9)

The very foundations of the earth belong to the Lord, and the image here is of God picking up the whole world and setting it on its foundations.
This is a poetic way of saying that God both created and sustains the world.
And if God created and sustains the whole world, then surely, he can take care of his people.
That’s the point here. That the God who established the earth and set the world upon its foundations will guard the feet or the way of His saints.

The Bible tells us that Jesus “gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own.” (Titus 2:14)

The Lord will establish his people, He will guard the feet of his saints, but the wicked will be silenced in darkness.

So how does the Lord keep the feet of His saints?
It’s through His Word… as Psalm 119: 105   tells us “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
And it’s through His Spirit… as Isaiah 30:21, declares, “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.’”
God bless and I look forward to your comments.
