Our verse for today is
in - Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore, be imitators of
God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given
Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Some translations use the
word “fragrance” in place of "Sweet-smelling aroma".
When I was in our church’s
Praise Team; I was introduced to the song, called “Above All” written by Lenny
LeBlanc and Paul Blaoche.
This is the song’s lyrics:
Above all powers, Above
all kings
Above all nature, and all
created things
Above all wisdom, and all
the ways of man
You were here before the
world began
Above all kingdoms, Above
all thrones
Above all wonders, the
world has ever known
Above all wealth, and treasures
of the earth
There's no way to measure
what you're worth
Crucified laid behind a stone
You lived to die rejected and alone
Like a rose trampled on the ground
You took the fall and thought of me
Above all!
~~~
It’s can be difficult to
imagine Christ, our comforter and best friend, crucified, rejected and alone.
The words of this song
always touched me deeply.
The sentence, "Like a
rose, trampled on the ground", gives us such a clear word picture of what
Jesus went through for us.
Did you know one of the
names of Jesus is “Rose of Sharon?”
Did you also know that When
a rose is crushed or trampled, it offers a very sweet fragrance? And Jesus is a
sweet-smelling fragrance.
The Apostle Paul tells us
that we are a sweet-smelling fragrance to those who believe.
For we are
to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those
who are perishing. As found in: 2 Corinthians 2:15
Our savior was trampled to
the ground - for us – for you and for me.
Yet though He was crushed,
He was like a sweet smelling rose; and He did it all for us.
And when you feel crushed
or rejected… pray that a fragrance of sweet smelling rose would flow from our
spirit so people would be drawn to The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!
AND
WITH THAT I WANT TO REMIND YOU…
LIFE HAPPENS, LET’S ENJOY IT!
Today’s devotion came in
part from “right from the heart
ministries”
