Tidbits of Wisdom

Have you ever read any of the comments that people leave at the end of a news article?

I must admit I’ve never gotten use to the idea that so many people in today’s society believe that it is perfectly appropriate to speak whatever is on their mind. Vigorously writing their thoughts and opinions regardless of who it hurts, they often end up exposing their own ignorance on the subject. It’s tragic that people have become so willing to spew vile words under the guise of discussions.

And to what purpose did the news sites decide to add the ability to “Join the discussion” where anybody can connect to the conversation and vomit out evil remarks?
I think society has lost something because of all this “conversation and discussion”.   Two words come to mind - respect and politeness.

Which leads me to my father. He wasn't one to lecture or reprimand me by giving me a "talking-to". He used his words to make me think,  so I could learn from my mistakes.

I remember my father telling me little tidbits of wisdom, so I thought I’d share some with you. . .

Even a fish wouldn’t get caught if it had kept its mouth shut.
He who hears forgets, he who sees remembers, he who does learns.
It is easier to suppress the first desire than to satisfy all those that follow.
It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
Of all the sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest ones are - it might have been.
The person who thinks too little usually talks too much.
Tell me whom you associate with and I will tell you who you are.
People give nothing so willingly as advice.

And this I read recently, I just had to share it. . .
There is so much good in the worst of us, and so much bad in the best of us, that it should remind all of us, not to criticize the rest of us.

Which is the advice I'll leave in the hopes that someone will listen and think and perhaps learn from their mistakes. . .

My Daddy
I'd love to hear some of the Tidbits you know.
