With one day left of the year 2013. . . I wanted to wish
everyone a very Happy New Year!
Yesterday we went to my sons home and enjoyed celebrating
Christmas together.
We had a wonderful dinner and exchanged gifts. . . the two
boys are getting so big.
Santa had
brought them a Wii U, so my husband and I bought them the game Zelda to play in
their new game system. I had forgotten
how much I use to enjoy watching my own two boys play Zelda on our Super
Nintendo that Santa had brought our family.
Zelda is a fun game to watch, it’s like a drama unfolding
with mystery and suspense; everyone can read the conversations between the
characters, whereby even those who are not playing can follow along. And just
like when my boys would play – the whole family started to encourage, and help
to find all the jewels, treasures and secrets that they needed to find. We were all calling out to be careful because
the enemy is ahead, and laughing at ourselves as we helped navigate which way
to go to ensure the character didn’t get caught (yet again!) and land in behind
bars. . . little Nathan was at the edge
of his seat in anticipation and excitement as the character tried to rescue his
little sister from the evil shadow creature that was in control of a large bird
that he used to capture her. The soon to
be hero was catapulted into a hidden
fortress with bad guys that are silly looking characters, they somewhat
reminded me of a cross between a wombat and a pig. They are all cartoon looking
characters, none of them are too frightening for even a very young a child.
All too soon
the day became dark and it was getting late, I found myself not wanting to
leave. . . after all the little sister had
yet to be rescued! And unlike when my
boys were little, I wouldn’t be there to watch the continuing saga or to experience
the joy when the hero was successful with his mission.
So it was with a little sadness that I got ready to go home.
However, it was a wonderful day! And with promises made to let me know how the little sister is rescued. . . we said our good-byes with
hugs and kisses.
