A Study in 1 Peter

Based on 1 Peter, chapter 1: 1 - 16

I have been chosen & was foreknown by God.

I have been cleansed by His blood.

I have been sanctified & made holy by the Spirit.

I am to be obedient to Jesus Christ.

The Lord's grace & peace has been given to me in increasing abundance.

This [grace & peace] is realized through Christ – that is freedom from:
                Fears
                Moral conflicts
Agitating passions (desires, cravings, lusts, rages, urges, aches, etc.)

I have been born again!

I have an inheritance kept for me in heaven.

God is protecting me by His power which will be revealed for all to see.

There will be times of distress and trials.

I will suffer temptations.

Through them (trials & temptations) my faith will be tested; which is more valuable than gold. Even gold is tested through fire.

Even though I cannot see Him I love Him and I rejoice because of Him!

My reward for trusting Him is the salvation of my soul.

Even the prophets of old searched and tried to understand about this gracious salvation that has been prepared for me.

They were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for me! It was all so wonderful that even the angels were [and are] eagerly watching these things happen.

I must brace up my mind; think clearly and be self-disciplined, (guarded, with integrity & alert); setting my hope wholly & unchangeably on the grace that is in Christ.

Now that I know the gospel, I am to live as a child of God, not living to satisfy my own [evil] desires [that govern me].

I am to be righteous [holy] in all my conduct [my attitude and in what I say] and in the way I live; just as God who chose me is holy.

Psalm 36:7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! ...
